I should be mixing batter. Lots of it. Instead I thought I’d procrastinate by writing a new blog post. I’ll be cursing myself at midnight.
You will all be pleased (or perhaps disappointed if you have a bit of a devilish streak) to hear that I have made friends with my crepe rings. We have our moments but mostly they are doing a great job. FlipnFast is getting pretty busy and with summer just around the corner (you wouldn’t think so with these snow showers), we should get even busier very soon. I have just updated the calendar on the website with lots of events if you’d like to have a quick look. I’ll also keep reminding you of our whereabouts on Facebook and Twitter.
I have decided to start a new hashtag… is that the right terminology? Crepes definitely take people to their happy place. Sometimes it’s because customers find what they expected, like Nutella or lemon and sugar.
On other occasions, really special occasions, it’s because somebody finds something that they don’t expect. Gluten, dairy or egg intolerant? As long as you aren’t severely allergic and it’s ok that your food is prepared alongside those ingredients, we can make you a crepe!
Put yourself on a diet and in need of something healthy? There is no sugar in our batter and we’ve recently introduced the ‘Super Salad’ galette which is delicious, nutritious and won’t break your rules. We even have syrup that is made from fruit (as well as plenty of fresh fruit) so you can enjoy a guilt free sweet crepe.
Vegetarian or vegan? Everything we serve is vegetarian and we always have vegan options. Joy of joys, you can eat the marshmallows! Actually, we’ll be flipping crepes at a number of vegan festivals this year. I’d like your opinion on the vegan batter I’ve been working on so please come and try it. We’ll be at the Newcastle Vegan Festival on the 7th May and NEVFEST at the Stadium of Light on the 15th May, as well as others later in the year.
I just realised I got side tracked. I am supposed to be talking about the hashtag… it’s #crepesandsmiles. Crepes definitely lead to smiles, and I really want to see your smiles. Next time you come for a FlipnFast crepe, I’d love to see a photo of you with your crepe, and the crepe induced smile. Stick it on the FlipnFast Facebook page, or tweet us with the hashtag #crepesandsmiles. We might just have a hashtag give away in the not too distant future, so I want to see loads of photos!
To help get you in the mood, here are some fabulous smiles brought on by the love of crepes.
I’m making this blog short and sweet (I have batter to mix!), so I’m signing off. See you soon at Alnwick, Ryton, Jesmond, Alnmouth, Hexham, Newcastle City Centre, Amble, Whitley Bay, Gibside or even Glasgow (and plenty of other places)!
